  Finally, our MAUD 25th Anniversary Celebration!!! The Ceremony will be held on 1400 hours (SGT), 19 Nov, 2022 at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, University Town,  National University of Singapore .  The ceremony will start with the 4th lecture of our International Keynote Series to be delivered by Dr Liu Thai Ker, founder of  MORROW Architects & Planners  on The Future of Urban Planning. It will be followed by the Urban Design Education Forum with panellist, Mdm  Siew Leng Fun , Mr  Kheng Soon Tay , Mr  Chee Huang Seah , Prof.  Chye Kiang Heng , and Prof. Ho Puay Peng, and a very attractive reception with good food and drinks at the end. Features Desk Bee Lan Wei Kiang Hung Yen Ecopark is a 500 hectare township in Van Giang, Hung Yen Province, located 10 km southeast of the city centre of Hanoi, within half an hour drive. The township is sited on a low-lying area near the confluence of Bac Hung Hai Canal and the Red River. We embarked on this project in 2006, with a vision to create the first sustainable integrated waterfront township in Hanoi with several waterfront community, a commercial hub and institution hub featuring a lake forming a ring within the township. The key challenge of the project is to create a waterfront community, where there would be minimum impact on the existing water ecosystem within the site, and resilient to climate change. The team has studied and establish the development concept, drawing influences from Ciputra Hanoi International City and Phu My Hung Township, along with waterfront residential community in Florida and Gold Coast, and the newly minted Sentosa Cove in Singapore. He started from the history of urban planning in China, analysed the urban-rural dichotomy in China, and then moved on to the work on rural revitalisation today, and the link between rural revitalisation and urban design, providing us with an in-depth analysis. My perception is that, in order for planning to be "practical", the two core issues of "who uses it" and "how to use it well" must be clarified.
